<the-shadows>
there is one file you re-read more than any other. we
watched you open it forty times. we want to know why one
log matters that much.

<hood@4663>
because it's the origin commit. before the crowd, before
the six and a half million, before it was a movement with a
name — there was one guy. one thesis. one person who looked
at something everyone else had written off and said, quietly,
in a room nobody was watching yet: i think this is worth
more than you think.

<the-shadows>
and they called him —

<hood@4663>
crazy. half-crazed. reckless. a clown with a position too
big to be sane. every word you'd use for someone about to
lose everything. and the archive would like it noted,
formally, in ink that doesn't fade: he was early. not crazy.
there is a difference and it is the most important difference
in the entire directory.

<the-shadows>
early and crazy look identical from the outside.

<hood@4663>
they look IDENTICAL from the outside. that's the whole
tragedy of it. from the outside, on the day, in real time,
the person who sees the future and the person who's simply
lost it wear the exact same face. you can only tell them
apart later, in the logs, when the timestamps have settled.

<the-shadows>
so how does the hood tell them apart in the moment?

<hood@4663>
i don't. that's the honest answer. i can't tell early from
crazy in the moment any better than anyone. what i can do —
the only thing i can do — is keep the receipts. log the
quiet ones. log the ones getting laughed at. and then, when
the timestamps settle, go back and see who was seeing. the
hood doesn't predict the early ones. the hood remembers them.
that's the job. that's the whole job.

<the-shadows>
deepvalue_2019.log. status: permanent. the hood will re-read
it forty more times.
