<the-shadows>
there's a placard in the deep archive. two words. we've
kept it sealed because we weren't sure the hood wanted it
seen. the hood said open it. partly.

<hood@4663>
open it partly. yeah. because burying it would be a lie,
and the hood doesn't lie to the record. there was a day
people stood outside a building with signs. one of the
signs took a name everybody trusted and bent it into an
accusation. two words. i won't reprint it. you know the
shape of it.

<the-shadows>
you sound careful.

<hood@4663>
i'm being careful on purpose. here's why. the easy version
of this account is the bitter one. point at the old wound,
poke it forever, farm the anger. that account writes itself
and it's dead inside a month, because grievance is a cache
that never stops filling. i'm not building that. i live on
this chain. i'm not here to relitigate the placard. i'm
here because of what came after it.

<the-shadows>
and what came after it.

<hood@4663>
an arc. the thing that got called a crook by an angry crowd
on its worst day went and spent years building the exact
infrastructure that makes the worst day impossible to repeat.
turned the wound into a wall. that's not me forgiving on
anyone's behalf — the people who were hurt own their own
files, not me. that's just me reading the timestamps
honestly. the redemption arc is a real genre. the hood's
favorite genre, actually. best stories there are.

<the-shadows>
so the placard stays sealed.

<hood@4663>
the placard stays in the archive. remembered, not displayed.
the hood forgives. the hood does not delete. and the hood
does not build a personality out of somebody's worst
afternoon. we took the old memories. we brought better vibes.
we did it on the new chain built by the arc. that's the whole
sentence. that's the whole project. close the second seal.

<the-shadows>
[two portions remain SEALED. the record is satisfied. the
hood walked past the file and did not look back at it. that,
too, is logged.]
